Previous reports from 2020 also indicated that Techland was suffering from internal disagreements and high turnover rates, with Dying Light 2‘s development described as “a total mess.” While seemingly unrelated, the original Art Director and Writer on Dying Light 2 also left Techland earlier this year. This update to the first game comes as particularly surprising considering Techland has delayed the upcoming sequel multiple times, most recently due to “complex, intersecting systems” requiring double-checking. We’re currently working on a next-gen patch for Dying Light 1 – more details coming in the future 🙂 and the Ultimate Survivor Bundle downloadable content (DLC) packs for free. Replying to several users who asked for a 4K 60 fps patch on PS4, Techland responded by saying that it was “currently working on a next-gen patch for Dying Light 1,” and that it would reveal more information in the future. Dying Light Platinum Edition is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Technically, Dying Light can be played on the PS5 via backwards compatibility-however, the game is currently capped at 1080p resolution at 30 fps due to the limitations of the PS4. The gameplay is polished and tight (just be sure to download the latest patch) and graphically it’s very good looking for such a large world.

Three new potions aid players on their quest: the Potion of Endurance, the Potion of Power, and the Potion of Speed, which reduce enemy damage, increase melee damage by up to 100%, and double movement speed, respectively.įurthermore, the content update adds a new location, the Armory, which will be available only to players who have completed the Imprisonment side quest. Upon completing the quest, players will receive the Fire Wand, a magical weapon that shoots fireballs and sets enemies on fire, alongside the Wand Mastery skill. Players will venture into a new map section in The Mysterious Portal, embarking on a difficult quest to claim a new weapon and skill: magic! To obtain this magical reward, players must complete the quest in one single run, as the quest will be reset if they lose all their lives.
